“Trainset arrived and obviuosly I wanted to test the engines. Software installed (E-link) few problems with it closing down or not seeing the controller (kept telling me to check to see if I was using the correct power rail, the one without the capacitor, I was using the correct one as the set was brand new. I did check). It feels 'cluncky' and the icons are not really refined for this day and age. No paperwork about the diesel engine only the Bon Accord and the DCC boards fitted to both. Made a programming track and checked both trains. 'Bon Accord' worked OK on a small open track with points. Type 47 diesel had a problem with its front coupling. it was riding too low and everytime it went over the power track centre cover between the rails it uncoupled or even got jammed on the sleepers. Also trying to make it go across points was odd the front would go straight on as the points were set but the back bogey would divert up the so called closed line until the train stopped and could go no further. That diesel is now being looked at by Hornby. (Wonderland were the first people I reported it to and they got in contact with Hornby for me.) Haven't heard from them yet they have had it for a week now. It is the one thing that really spoilt my pleasure. Hornby's poor quality control. I spent a lot of money on this set and can only use 1 engine. Also I see they are now selling it for just under £300 since it is nearly 2014 and there new items are coming out. Not really the best of experiences so far in a new hobby since I've retired.”
