Assembly was fairly straightforward, though the lower age recommendation is a bit optimistic at 8. Our cadets are 13+ and I didn't want to even trust them with assembly. Once assembled the engine did not seem to work. It relies upon a stream of air to turn the large fan but it was not strong enough despite all parts turning freely. However, I tried blasting it with a hair-drier for a while, spinning the engine much faster than the air stream could have done. After a short while the engine started to run under its own power. I guess the newly assembled engine needs a little 'running in' at first. The end result is, the cadets loved it and fully understand how a jet engine works. Despite the minor teething problems I would thoroughly recommend this kit.”

Model is sturdy and good quality but instructions not as clear as expected and my son found some of the stages difficult on his own - had to get Dad in to help.
He's also got the internal combustion engine in this set and was able to assemble that alone. Excellent models that clearly show how the engines work.”
