Sigma's innovation - renewed !
With their compact bodies and a diverse range of design, mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras have been evolving in their own unique way. To achieve a lens system corresponding to the cameras of the new era - shaped by such thoughts, the high- performance standard lens for mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras offers Sigma's original innovation in a form that is more polished and refined than ever before. In order to maximize performance of mirrorless cameras, advanced optical technology such as the high-quality double-sided aspherical lens is used to achieve expressive performance worthy of Sigma's Art line. It is an ideal lens for casual snaps as well as portraits.
Our Art line delivers high-level artistic quality
Sigma is organizing all its interchangeable lenses into three product lines; Contemporary, Art and Sports. Designed with a focus on sophisticated optical performance and abundant expressive power, our Art line delivers high-level artistic expression. Developed with the maximum emphasis on artistic touch, they are designed to meet the expectations of users who value a creative, dramatic outcome above compactness and multifunction. Along with landscapes, portraits, still-life, close-up and casual snaps, they are perfect for the kind of photography that unleashes the inner artist. Ideal for studio photography, they offer just as much expressive scope when capturing architecture, starry skies, underwater shots and many other scenes.
Standard lens for mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras
The high-performance standard lens has an angle of view equivalent to 60mm on the Micro Four Thirds system and 45mm on the E-mount system (35mm equivalent focal length). Designed with a focus on power distribution, the lens ensures exceptional image quality. With excellent mobility, it is ideal for casual snaps as well as portraits. Currently comprising the SIGMA 19mm F2.8 DN wide-angle lens, the SIGMA 30mm F2.8 DN standard lens and the SIGMA 60mm F2.8 DN mid-range telephoto lens are expanding photographers' high-performance options for mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras.
Superior optical performance and functionality. Sigma's original innovation is now more polished and refined than ever before.
The simple shape of the focus ring, varying textures that distinguish each part of the lens, the use of metal on almost all external areas of the lens, the unibody design of the hood-all of these elements add up to a lens design that is ideal for mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras. In addition, photographers have the choice of black or silver to match their favorite equipment.
Exceptional image quality
This high-performance lens is inspired by the optical design of the SIGMA DP2 Merrill, the high image quality compact digital camera incorporating the 46 megapixel Foveon X3 direct image sensor. This lens features two glass mold aspherical lenses including the high-quality double-sided aspherical lens, providing excellent correction for distortion and other types of aberration. The inner focusing system corrects the fluctuation of aberration to maintain image quality regardless of the focusing position
Telecentric conscious design
The superior telecentric optical design improves the image quality throughout the frame.
Linear AF motor
This lens benefits from a newly developed linear AF motor which moves the lens unit directly without the need for gears or the drive of other mechanical parts. This system ensures accurate and quiet autofocusing, making the lens suitable for video recording as well as taking still photos.
Minimum focusing distance of 30cm
This lens has a minimum focusing distance of 30cm and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:8.1.
Incorporating Rounded diaphragm
The 7 blade rounded diaphragm creates an attractive round bokeh at large-aperture settings

Value for money:
For the price the lens is faultless, and it’s amazing that Sigma can sell a decent lens at this price point and retain high “made in Japan” quality standards. In absolute terms, the lens isn’t as sharp as my other prime lens with similar focal length, the Olympus 25mm f/1.8. The max aperture is a bit limited at f/2.8 but for my intended purpose it is perfectly fine. Due to lockdown restrictions, I haven’t been able to go out and shoot so overall image quality cannot be commented on. The finish of the product is a lot better than it looks in the photos. The black paint finish is actually more matt than it I expected, which I liked. As with many MFT lenses, when the camera isn’t powered up, it rattles quite noticeably. The rattles are gone when in use. The focus ring is wide and requires just the right amount of torque to adjust. The front lens element is very small and quite a bit recessed so for most occasions, a protective filter should not be necessary. The item came with a hood, and a case, which are usually optional items which you would have to pay extra for with other manufacturers such as Canon.
