As a relative newcomer to the world of astronomy, the NexStar 130SLT was my first "Proper" telescope purchase, and it was a FANTASTIC choice. The bundled eyepieces are high quality, affording spectacular views of the moon and Jupiter, and also deep sky objects such as the Great Andromeda Galaxy, even on these bright summer nights. The "skyalign" tracking system is effortlessly easy to set up and does a truly remarkable job in locating stars, planets and DSOs, and also has the rather fantastic "identify" feature which allows you to point the scope at a star and have the computer offer a suggestion as to what it's called. The scope and tripod are very portable, making it easy to observe stars away from my back garden, and assembly and maintenance is simple - the manual even has a guide to collimation as well as sky maps and a glossary of astronomical terms. I have yet to fully try out the bundled observatory software as I'm running Linux and it's a windows application, but I've been so busy outside looking at the starts that I haven't really seen the need to use it as yet anyway! Delivery was swift and everything was well packaged with care. I truly could not be happier!
