Series 2,3,4. Top Flat Plate. This plate offers a convenient way to upgrade previous Systematic models by adding onto the plate a machined ring that will allow the safety catch to operate. It features also a hook below the plate that will allow to attach weights in order to stabilize more the system.

“Bought this as my Gitzo 3 series had both a center column and also the leveling base, however for wildlife photography I wanted to be able to get the tripod as low to the ground as possible with the legs extended. Both the center column and leveling base prevented me from doing so. Fitting the flat plate was very straightforward, and I then added an RRS Universal Leveling Base on top, which gives a much more usable configuration. As ever, the Gitzo kit is robust and well made.”
