Fujifilm XF 23mm f/1.4 Lens Reviews

5 Rating 1 Reviews
Read Wilkinson Cameras Reviews

The premium wide-angle lens designed to maximize the performance of the Fujifilm X-Trans CMOS sensorĀ for the highest picture quality. With a focal length equivalent to 35mm*, the lens is suitable for a wide range of applications including portraits and landscapes as well as more general photography.
The fast maximum aperture of f/1.4 allows you to shoot hand-held in low light conditions, where zoom lenses would introduce camera shake, plus it creates beautiful bokeh for artistic images. Lens distortion has been reduced to the absolute minimum using only optical rather than digital correction, thereby delivering the highest possible picture quality.
The rounded seven-blade diaphragm ensures smooth bokeh even when shooting portraits or product shots at a medium aperture to maintain reasonable depth-of-field.

Optically l I am very pleased with the lens, but there are certain aspects to the functionality which, when compared with either the 18m or 27mm lenses (which I also have) I miss. First, with the other lenses I can switch the body to Manual Focus and the AF-L button functions, i.e. it autofocuses. Being able to have autofocus as a first-shot and then manual over-ride is very convenient. Second, in manual focus (with or without AF-L) I can see the distance and depth of field in the electronic viewfinder. As a reading spectacle user, being able to see the depth of field within a dioptre-corrected display, rather than on the body of the lens, is even very convenient. Furthermore, being able to perform an instantaneous sanity check on the AF-L is extremely valuable.
