MagMod have put together the MagBox 24 Octa Pro Kit for photographers who want to maximise the potential of their speedlights while having the option to configure the system for use with strobes. This kit includes a 24" Octa softbox with diffuser, a MagRing that holds one or two flashes, a MagShoe for handholding or stand mounting and a set of correction gels. Also included is the FocusDiffuser which narrows the Octa's beam spread whilst increasing its output by two or three stops. It then all fits in the provided case.
MagBox 24 Octa Softbox (24")
The MagBox 24 Octa Softbox is a one-piece design with a magnetic base for very fast set-up and breakdown and is compatible with Profoto, Bowens and Elinchrom. It has dedicated adapters for one or two speedlights with the addition of the MagGrip that is sold separately. One of this items most noticeable features is its evenness of output from edge to edge. This is done without an internal baffle and without exhibiting a hot spot.
Magnetic Attachment
Magnets inside the base of the MagBox makes attachment fast, strong and silent. Even if you are tilting or softbox to a deep angle the MagBox and MagRing are staying put.
Easy Set-Up and Take Down
The MagBox is in one solid piece. It can be popped open in one easy click and with magnets in the base you can attach it onto your MagRing in a second. When you are ready to remove the MagBox from the MagRing, simply press the Magnetic Field Disrupter. Then fold up the MagBox, it collapses into one neat, portable piece and can be stored safely in the MagBox case.
Speedlight and Strobe Compatible
The versatile MagBox can be used with either one or two speedlights. Any flash that has MagMod's MagGrip installed will work. Or you can use one of the available adapters to mount you Profoto, Bowens or Elinchrom.
Obstruction-Free Design
The calculated design of the MagBox 24 Octa distributes light evenly and without a hotspot, the reason why this softbox is devoid of an internal baffle. It provides clean light quality and optimal output.
MagShoe
This MagMod MagShoe for MagRing is a lightweight and ergonomic holder for your MagRing flash holder. The MagShoe can be mounted to a stand with a 5/8" pin or easily carried handheld and it accepts either a flash or the MagRing using a cold shoe mounting system. It has been designed so that you can operate it with only one hand, leaving your other hand free to hold you camera, which allows you to mount your flash or MagRing and lock in place with a single hand.
The single-handed operation is extended to the tilt function which can be controlled by a simple trigger that you squeeze to release the lock. This gives you a secure grip on the MagShoe while locking or unlocking it with the same hand that is holding it secure. Releasing the trigger engages the tilt lock which allows the MagShoe to support your MagRing, two flashes and the MagBox softbox. This item also integrates an umbrella mounting hole with lock that allows you to create that familiar soft look. The plastic exterior of the MagShoe is gentle on your hands and not accidently trigger your flash via its hot-shoe mounting foot.
MagRing
The MagRing from MagMod is a lightweight universal speedlight mount that accepts up to two speedlights that have been outfitted with MagMod's MagGrip (not included). The MagRing features a cold shoe mounting foot and can mount to a MagShoe for handheld or stand-mounted use. Magnetic attachments are at the heart of the MagRing and are used to hold MagMod's MagBox Softbox. Magnets also secure your speedlights when mounted with the MagGrip and the MagRing incorporates locking doors for further security.
MagBox Case
This travel-friendly MagMod MagBox Case is designed to hold, protects and transport your MagBox light gear. It fits a MagBox, MagRing, 2 MagShoes, 24 gels, 2 speedlights and 2 FocusDiffusers.
MagBox Correction Gel Set
These correction gels assist photographers in converting their speedlight's daylight colour balance to tungsten or to warm or cool its quality of light. The correction gel kit contains eight rigid polycarbonate gels that slip into the integrated slot in the MagBox Octa. The set includes two full CTO, three ½ CTO and two ¼ CTO filters as well as a full blue filter. These gels require a MagGrip for use which can be purchased separately.
MagBox 24 Octa FocusDiffuser
The MagBox 24 Octa FocusDiffuser from MagMod features a unique design that employs micro-structures and functions like a combination of a grid and a lens to modify the softbox's beam spread. It can be attached in seconds via integrated magnets and the FocusDiffuser narrows the wide beam to 20 or 40 degrees depending on orientations, while it increases the output two to three stops.
Innovation Function
Inside of the FocusDiffuser are micro-structures that alter the angle of light in 40 or 20 degree beam angles which softly redirects light forward and causes less spill.
Increases Effective Light Output
The FocusDiffuser gives you the same increase in effective light output potential as that in a larger modifier.
Control Soft Light
Create flattering soft light and then place it exactly where you want it. The FocusDiffuser limits spill light to give you the control you need to work more efficiently and saves you time in post-production.
Much Easier than a Fabric Grid
The FocusDiffuser attaches to the MagBox in seconds, quietly and easily via integrated magnets. When you are done with it, you can roll it up neatly and store it safely inside your MagBox case.
Up to 700% more Light
The MagBox's output with the FocusDiffuser up to 2.8 stops brighter. It gives you the softness you'd expect with the control and precision of a grid.
