Exceptional detail - Live MOS Sensor without Low Pass Filter

Capture moments in impressive detail with true-to-life details thanks to the 16-megapixel Live MOS sensor. The removal of the low-pass filter ensures ultimate sharpness and clarity.
4K video
Whether your watching your videos on the web or perfecting your footage in the edit, 4K delivers a far more intense viewing experience than you have seen before. Its native resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels is four times larger than Full HD, resulting in a much higher level of detail. For even more post production versatility, shoot in Cinelike log mode for a flat picture profile, perfect for colour grading.
Durable body
All joints, dials and buttons are sealed to provide a splash and dustproof design. A magnesium alloy frame makes the camera lightweight yet durable. In combination with LUMIX G weather sealed lenses, the G80 is perfect for shooting under extreme conditions.
Dual I.S 2 achieves 5-stop compensation power
A high-precision gyrosensor and new algorithm technology increases the compensation power from 4-stops to 5 stops. Body I.S and Lens I.S compensation allocation is controlled in response to the focal length and shooting conditions, making it possible to shoot slower shutter speeds, even with telephoto lenses. Dual I.S 2 can also correct unwanted hand-shake for classic lenses not equipped with O.I.S.
Freeze moments with 4K Photo
4K Photo is an extremely convenient mode, enabling photographers to grab frames from up to 30fps whilst recording in 4K video – equating to images up to 8 megapixels in resolution – ideal for A3-size prints. A new Bulk Photo saving mode now makes choosing your favourite images quicker than ever.
Post Focus & Focus Stacking
Have you ever imagined that you can set sharp focus on the target subject after you shot the images? Select focus even after you’ve taken the image with Post Focus exclusive to LUMIX cameras. Panasonic’s DFD technology calculates the focus areas from a max. of 49 focus points so you can simply select and fine tune the area of the image you want in focus – it’s a whole new photographic experience for ultimate creative freedom.

The camera and kit lens came at a very reasonable price, less than I would expect to pay for a traditional 35mm SLR camera and lens with comparable spec. Although significantly smaller and lighter than a traditional SLR, it feels very solid to hold, and it was reassuring to know that it and the lens are weather sealed for some sea trips in a small boat that I was planning. In use, the dual stabilisation was really effective, even when standing on a boat in a sea swell. The electronic viewfinder was really good. I was already familiar with the Panasonic menu layout, but it is clearly laid out and early logical in use. The photos are as good as I expected; I often use the white balance at the cloudy setting to brighten the jpg colours a little. The kit 12-60 zoom lens is I think better than I expected - I am really pleased. This is my first venture into the micro four thirds mirrorless world, so I have nothing similar to compare it with. However it gives similar results to my former SLR, and with its lighter weight I'm more likely to have it with me. Getting it is already proving to have been a good decision.
