Our GU10 downlights are good, top quality products as it is. Add massive safety benefits to that, and the result is our Ignis Plus Fire Rated Downlight GU10 Tilt Chrome. The polished chrome finish gives it a modern yet subdued exterior, over the solid diecast construction. The tilt functionality gives it some scope for how you want to use it. The highly versatile GU10 base ensures it will work with any of our GU10 spotlights that we sell. A 90mm cutting hole is required for use, as is a recess depth of at least 133mm. The real draw of this product by Mirrorstone however is the fact that it is fire rated. As our downlights all require holes to be cut in the ceiling, this compromises the integrity of the protection your ceiling would normally give you in the event of a fire. In normal cases, there would be tiny gaps between the hole and the edge of the downlight, allowing heat and air to pass through. Our fire rated downlights are made from intumescent material though – they swell up as they get hotter. This closes the gaps and makes your ceiling air tight again, preventing the spread of fires from floor to floor. This protection will last up to 90 minutes – which is more than enough for you to safely evacuate your property and for emergency services to put out the blaze. Generally speaking, fire rated products cost more than standard downlights. We feel however that the extra cost is justified, especially when the safety of you and your loved ones is called into question. We have a wider range of GU10 downlights if your needs demand something different. We Provide The Safety, But You Choose The Rest When you buy this GU10 downlight, you have the option of having bulbs included in the package. With this, there are a couple of choices. The first is whether you would like dimmable light or not. Obviously, this lets you choose different levels of brightness, but you should know that if you do want to go for dimmable bulbs, you’ll need a trailing edge dimmer. Conventional leading edge dimmers that are present in most households might not work with LEDs, and could even damage them too. The other option you’ll have is what kind of colour temperature you want. There are 2 to pick from – warm white (3000K) and cool white (6000K). The only difference between them is the perceived warmth of the light. Warm white is very close to traditional halogen bulbs and helps create a cosy setting. This is great for places like the living room or bedroom. Cool white provides a much icier shade, and a brighter light. This is better suited for areas where you need to concentrate such as the kitchen or the office at work. The Best Spotlights Although you have the option of buying bulbs with your downlight, you may want to purchase them separately. Luckily, we’ve got a couple of recommendations from our wide range. The first of which is our 3.3W GU10 LED 80 SMD. This spotlight shines with 400 lumens of light but only uses 3.3W of energy, making it very good on your electricity bills. The 80 surface mounted diodes (SMDs) will keep going for 50,000 hours too – that’s 20 times longer than an equivalent incandescent. You should also consider our 6W Dimmable GU10 LED 27 SMD. It uses a little more...
