Safety is at the top of the agenda with our Fire Rated Chrome GU10 Short Can Downlight. Built by industry leaders Mirrorstone, the versatile GU10 base gives it complete compatibility with our whole GU10 spotlight range. The short can adds to the convenience, as it will still install into ceilings where the recess space is shallower than normal – requiring only 80mm of recess depth. A relatively small 65mm cutting hole is the only other thing that is needed, slotting in neatly, leaving its 85mm diameter chrome finish behind on show for all to see. The fairly neutral finish means it will look good in any interior colour scheme. The real draw of this GU10 downlight however is the fact that it is fire rated. When installed, there will be tiny gaps between the cutting hole and the edge of the downlight. This allows heat and air to pass through in the event of a fire – giving as good as no protection. This LED downlight is made from intumescent material – so it expands when exposed to heat. This closes up the gaps and makes your ceiling air tight. This protection lasts up to 90 minutes, which is more than enough time for you to get you and your loved ones out of your house. Although fire rated fittings generally cost fractionally more than standard downlights, we feel the extra cost is justified purely on the safety benefits alone – as you cannot put a price on safety. If chrome isn’t your favoured colour, we also have the same downlight available in satin chrome and white, giving you some aesthetic choices too. Have a look through all our GU10 downlights for products available in different colours, IP ratings and fire ratings. Over there you can find fire rated GU10s, IP65 fire rated, standard fittings, IP65 fittings and short can downlights like the one in question. Introducing NeoTec The NeoTec line has been fully updated to deliver the absolute best that a downlight can be. With such a sturdy design, these fire rated materials have been streamlined to provide better fire protection, with a stylish appearance that looks great. The design has been revamped to include better heat dissipation, increasing the lifespan of your bulb. The Choice Before You Buy One of the options you’ll have when you buy your GU10 downlight is whether you want bulbs with it or not. If you choose to, you’ll pick between warm white (3000K) and cool white (6000K). The only difference is the perceived warmth of the light that is emitted, and is measured in Kelvins.Warm white is better for areas like the living area or bedroom, as it emits a shade very similar to conventional halogens that makes the place very welcoming and homely. Cool white on the other hand is brighter and more penetrative. This is better for rooms where you need to concentrate like the kitchen or office. You can of course buy your spotlights separately. Really good quality light and 80mm depth fits nicely in roof space for upstairs landing lights. Beware! Requires 65mm Diam hole, My 65mm core drill is actually 2 & 1/2 inches which is 63mm. 67mm core drill works much better. Will certainly use similar lamps for the next job.
