Please note that the Warm White (3000K) option will be backordered until 30th June 2022. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. They don’t come much easier than the 18W Standard Tilt Fitted LED Downlight. Built by Mirrorstone, it’s an all-in-one light fitting with everything you need included in the unit – that’s a driver and bulbs – so there’s no need to buy any of them separately. Once you have the 130mm cutting hole for it to go in, the 18 separate diodes shine with an incredible 1500 lumens – far outperforming most standard spotlights or bulbs. It does this whilst consuming just 18W of power – an equivalent halogen would sap a whopping 120W to provide the same amount of light. That’s over 6 and a half times the electricity! That’s not all either, as it has an estimated lifespan of up to 50,000 hours. If you have an average daily use of 8 hours for example, it means this fitted downlight will give you well in excess of 15 years of life – making it incredible value for money. The narrow 45o beam angle makes it perfect for feature and accent lighting, opening up the possibility for use in commercial areas too. ReadyLED The ReadyLED range of downlights has had a new facelift, with efficiency being the focus. They have a new heat sink, with higher quality materials being used to dissipate heat at a quicker rate than ever before. The actual lights inside manage to generate even more light from the same low energy usage, ensuring a more eco-friendly fitting. Optionally Even Better There are a couple of features on this 18W tilt downlight that you can tweak to cater it exactly to your needs. One of these options is if you would like dimmable bulbs – allowing you to alter the brightness. If you do want dimmable light, you will need to use a trailing edge dimmer for this, as leading edge dimmers aren’t guaranteed to work and could even damage the LEDs too. The other choice you’ll have is what shade you would like your bulbs to shine with. The warm white (3000K) and cool white (6000K) options fall into what is known as colour temperatures – a measure of the perceived warmth of the light given off, hence the name. It’s measured in Kelvins, with each choice having its own benefits. Warm white creates a cosy environment, and appears really similar to the shade emitted by traditional halogens. We would recommend this for areas that need to feel comfortable like the living area or bedroom. Cool white helps build a slightly more clinical feel, and shines considerably brighter than warm white with an icier shade. This is much better suited for places where you might need to concentrate such as the office or the kitchen. If the area you’re thinking of using this 18W downlight is relatively small, then 1500 lumens may be a little excessive. Don’t worry, as we have a great alternative. Our 12W Standard Tilt Fitted LED Downlight is slightly lower in terms of overall performance, shining with a maximum of 1000 lumens. As you would expect, it’s easier on power too – consuming just 12W. This is a better option if you’re looking at smaller rooms. Fitted four of these 18 months ago and so far only had to replace one. In the Kitchen, so used 12 hours a day from October to March and then just 4 hours an evening during Spring/Summer. Easy to fit and plenty of help from the supplier to adapt this one to our needs when I collected it.
