Our Mirrorstone CREE 9W Dimmable Fire Rated Downlight comes with everything you need for domestic, commercial or retail lighting in one neat unit! The bulbs are included in the downlight, as is the driver – so all you need to do is cut a 53mm cutting hole, plug it into your 240V mains and off you go! The performance doesn’t leave much to be desired – the 3 CREE LEDs shine with a maximum brightness of 600 lumens yet it only uses 9W of power! To put things into perspective, an equivalent incandescent would use 60W – that’s over 6 and a half times the energy! Better yet, it will keep on shining for up to 50,000 hours – that’s over 15 years of use, even if you have it on for 8 hours a day! It’s a safe option too, as it is fire rated. It’s made from intumescent material that expands when exposed to heat. This makes the cutting hole in your ceiling air tight in the event of a fire, and helps prevent it spreading between floors. This protection lasts up to 90 minutes, which is more than enough for you to evacuate your premises and call emergency services. It’s So Versatile! The narrow 60o beam angle means the 9W downlight is perfect for feature and accent lighting, and is even dimmable as standard too. You will need a trailing edge dimmer to use dimmable LEDs though, as leading edge dimmers may not work and could even damage the bulbs. The versatility comes in through a couple of neat features. The first is IP65 rating. What this means is that the fire rated downlight is completely dust proof, and can withstand light jets of water from any direction. In the real world, it means that it is safe to use in areas with high concentrations of water – like the kitchen or bathroom for example. The other is the choice of what kind of colour temperature you would like. You can pick from warm white (3000K) or cool white (6000K). Warm white is nearly identical to the shade given off by conventional halogens, and is great for the living room or bedroom. Cool white is a lot icier and brighter though, making it better suited for areas like the kitchen or office. Whilst our featured dimmable downlight comes in an attractive satin chrome finish, it might not suit all types of interiors.
