Since receiving my euphonium a couple of weeks ago I'm very happy with it. I believe it is excellent value for the price and not much, if any, compromise from much more expensive instruments. Bob Nicholson Bass Trombone, Tuba, Euphonium Maritime Brass Quintet Symphony Nova Scotia PEI Symphony

Our high school trombone player tried a friend’s Wessex euphonium and was hooked. It took a few weeks to get here but is well worth the wait. He played a three octave scale right out of the box. We’ve always been a Yamaha family but this compensated Wessex is such a better value. The shipping box was perfect for the job, too.

Purchased this item for my son. He absolutely loves it and the instrument sounds way better than his school-issued Euphonium. The shipping process was flawless and fast, even though it was coming from overseas.

Beautiful out of the box. The reviews I read were accurate and the horn plays well. I loved getting it. It has great centering on the notes too. There is nothing I would wish changed for this instrument. The price point was perfect.

I am an intermediate player and ecstatic to have an instrument for $1700 that plays in pitch from E1 to Bb4. With a Bach 2G, every note is within 15 cents, if I use many alternate fingerings. With a Giardinelli Symphony T, no alternate fingerings, and only three notes are 15+ cents out of pitch. (The supplied mouthpiece does not give good intonation for me.) I expect to do even better when I try a Bach 4G and some Denis Wick Classic "4" mouthpieces. Valves smooth from the get-go. Good tone in all registers. Reasonably good sound production in the B1 - Eb2 range. Glad for 4 spit-valves. I don't exactly like the way it wants to be held, but I'll make the adjustment. A beautiful instrument; I always handle it with black cotton gloves. Not being a professional, I could justify spending more like $1-2K than $8-10K. Determined that the instrument that will see me through my retirement must help me with my intonation, I declined to buy one of the older euphoniums that are renowned for tone but have intonation issues, and I very reluctantly returned a new JP-274 after trying it with five mouthpieces. Determined also that my retirement instrument would not have sticky-valve issues, I resisted the very strong temptation to buy a used YEP-321. I am very, very happy.

I purchased this instrument so that I would be able to play euphonium once again. I was well aware of the quality of the Wessex instruments but was not prepared for the wonderful resonance of the instrument as I started playing it. It "sang" as I played various melodic passages. Well done Wessex!!
