“The organization of volunteering solutions was great! I did’t have a single problem. The only thing that was a bit surprising (not in a bad way) was the project itself, which could be described more clearly, but I still loved it and would definitely recommend :D”

“Llegar e instalarme en Sri Lanka fue muy fácil gracias al personal de la Aasha House. Me recogieron en el aeropuerto tal y como indicabais en el programa y después de esperar un tiempo a que llegaran unos compañeros nos dirigimos a Galle. Una vez allí nos enseñaron la casa, nuestras habitaciones y nos explicaron las normas de la casa y nos dieron algunas indicaciones sobre el barrio donde estábamos para poder movernos por allí. Aasha House está equipada con todo lo necesario, en mi caso dormía en una habitación grande con 3 literas (éramos 6 chicas) y compartíamos un baño. Dentro de la habitación había ventiladores y unas estanterías para poder dejar nuestro equipaje. En cuanto al Staff, todo el mundo es súper amable, siempre dispuesto a ayudar con lo que necesites y preocupados por tu bienestar. Semanalmente tiene lugar una reunión con todos los voluntarios y el staff para saber cómo nos encontramos, y si tenemos propuestas o sugerencias para algún aspecto de la casa o convivencia. Además a lo largo de la semana/mes van proponiendo actividades para que nos apuntemos y podamos conocer mejor la zona, la cultura o incluso se realizan excursiones por el país (Falik es genial!). Otro aspecto que me gustaría incluir es la comida. En Aasha House cocinan muy bien, es todo comida local pero se adaptan a los extranjeros, de manera que no cocinan muy picante para los que no estamos acostumbrados a ello. En cuanto a las tareas como voluntaria, me siento muy afortunada de haber podido trabajar y realizar todas las actividades en las que he participado. Dentro del criadero he podido dar de comer a las tortugas, limpiar los tanques donde viven, enterrar huevos y mi actividad favorita: patrullar la playa por la noche buscando tortugas que hayan salido a dejar huevos para poder rescatarlos y llevarlos al criadero. Algunas de estas tareas requerían cierto trabajo físico, y el staff en todo momento estaba atento a si necesitábamos algo, nos daban descansos durante las actividades y nos han cuidado mucho. Charith y Manjula han sido con los que más he coincidido y nos han enseñado muchas cosas de las tortugas, para poder cuidarlas y trabajar con ellas mejor. Además hemos tenido la oportunidad de poder realizar actividades conjuntamente con el proyecto de “Environment”, incluyendo actividades como plantar árboles o coral en la playa. Nuestra manager del proyecto es Viduni y ha sido sin duda una líder inmejorable, muy amable y atenta. Semanalmente manteníamos reuniones con ella para saber qué tal encontrábamos las actividades y si también teníamos alguna sugerencia o necesitábamos algo. Finalmente quería daros las gracias a Volunteering Solutions por acercarme a este proyecto y permitirme formar parte de esta labor tan necesaria para poder aportar mi granito de arena en la mejora de nuestro planeta. Sin duda repetiré en el futuro y voy a recomendarlo a todo el que me pregunte.”

“I participated in the medical project in Sri Lanka together with Volunteering Solutions. Even though the project was different from what I expected it to be (we did a lot of observing) I had a really great time in Sri Lanka. Everything was organised very well, including food, transportation and everything else that concernd our well-being. It was a great experience and I can recommend it!”
