“The product is good, the problem lies with the courier company, DHL. For years I have ordered the mixed seed and, for years I have asked for it to be left outside my garage. This plea has been ignored and time after time 50 kg of seed has been left slap bang touching my front door. Time after time I have had to drag the 50 kg of seed from my porch down two flights of stairs and across to the garage for storage. Two/three weeks ago when this happened yet again I contacted DHL and asked for someone to come back to my house and to remove the seed as I was having to climb over the packages to get in and out of my house. They did not return. Much of this problem lies with the fact that the delivery drivers do not read the instructions and, on one occasion, the instructions had even been altered and instead of saying leave by garage, it said leave by greenhouse. I don't even have a greenhouse and why would someone have a greenhouse at the front of their house near to the road? DHL admitted to me that many of their drivers do not read English. This presumably is part of the reason why the delivered seed is rarely where I ask it to be left. I have suspected this was the reason for years. I have two flights of steps up to my house and, on one occasion these bags of seeds were left tightly up against my front door when I was in fact at home but was in the garden and could not get to the door in time to accept the seeds. Had I not opened the door eventually with care I could easily have fallen straight over the bags and down my two flights of stairs and on to the driveway below. I believe legally that responsibility for careful delivery lies not necessarily with the courier company but with the sender, i.e. Vine Farm. I commend Vine Farm for its environmental farming and product quality but they do not seem to have the same care for their customers. I have in the past complained verbally to Vine Farm and at that time I was told consideration was being given to changing the courier. Pity they did not. It is a great shame, the birds enjoyed the seed but I cannot keep heaving huge bags of bird seed down my steps and I won't be buying from them again.”
