“I order a 500g bag at least every fortnight, and usually find them with an egg tray, making it easy to separate them out into tubs. This time, though, they were with scrunched-up newspaper, which was a nuisance to get the mealworms off. There was also a lot of fine sand, which I had to sieve off -so I'm not sure I got my full 500g of worms. I noticed, though, that the price had gone down to £11 - which led me to assume that you were using a different supplier. I have just ordered another, and find it's gone back up to the usual price, so hope it will come with egg tray and no sand!”
“Once I'd got over the horror of receiving mail that I could hear moving, and managed to manoeuvre the wiggly critters into a lidded tub, they were great. Local starlings, robins and blackbirds all gobbled them up eagerly. My children also enjoyed playing mealworm races, on one day when they were feeling particularly lively!”
“We have ordered our mealworms from Vine House Farm for about 6 months now, we have never had a problem. My wife cares for them, feeds them and sorts them, that way they last us about a month. Some of the batches have been more lively than others, but it could most likely be time of year and temperature, none of the batches have been sick, nor contaminated. There was a large problem at our nearest Pets at Home, they were infested with a mite parasite, this gave us a major problem, that is why we changed to Vine house Farm in the first place. We have had no problem since.”
“The price is too high now for the mealworms. I’ve been buying them for 5 or 6 years and the price has gone from £10 a kilo to nearly £20 a kilo which is a crazy increase”
