“When it arrived there were no instructions. I had to push a perch through the tube, it was very stiff to push and I was afraid of breaking it, however it did go in eventually. The hanger kept coming out of the tube and I had to bend it to keep it in. I feel that it should not need me to make adjustments for it to be usable.”
“We put up the new feeder alongside the older (smaller) one. It took several days (only) before the goldfinches tried it and a few days more before they visited more consistently. The Marsh Tit, a regular visitor to our old feeder, was more hesitant but now is a regular visitor. We will probably remove the older feeder soon.
From my point of view, I like the ease of disassembling / cleaning the Goldfinch Flocker, as well as being content that the birds like it.”
“Unfortunately, although it looks nice hanging in our tree in the garden, no birds have eaten from the Goldfinch Flocker which we bought on the 27th December.”
When introducing a new feeder to your garden, it can take weeks, rather than days for birds to come to feed. Goldfinches are the only birds that will eat niger seed and other feeders you have will also have an effect. For example if you are feeding sunflower hearts, Goldfinches will feast on those first, with the niger seed a second choice only if they are still hungry.
“Seems a very well-made product. have placed it in the normal place where the Goldfinches usually come to feed on the sunflower hearts feeder. They seem more reluctant to try it, although one or two brave souls have given it a go.I think it is a bit too soon to be a bit too soon to give an accurate rating to it. Having said that, I think it is still a substantial piece of kit. Thanks for your rapid turnaround delivery.”
