After riding for the past two years with a AGV X3000, I was beginning to crave a bit of a change. The lack of a Pinlock meant I was spending more time with the visor up than down. The very high chin bar was also making for a bit of a cold face. The AGV also lacks room for speakers which I'm interested in picking up at some point. By comparison, the Shoei ticks a lot of these boxes, feeling all round better featured, while maintaining many of the positive attributes of the AGV, like a wide field of view, very light construction, my scales make it a featherweight 1130g compared to the already lightweight AGV at 1330g (Shoei is a size S, the AGV is a SM). I'm also having better luck fitting earphones in under the Shoei, I had to wear a thin buff over my whole head to slide the AGV over an earbud in each ear, with the Shoei, I'm having an easier time (though I have to slide a thumb up into the helmet to hold them in place while removing the helmet). I went with off-white to make a bit of a change from my black AGV, and it's a lovely shade, definitely lacks the starkness of many white helmets, it's a little warmer and suits its retro looks very well. Fit wise, it makes good contact all over my head and face with no noticeable pressure points. Despite being a smaller size than the AGV, it feels like it goes on with less of a squeeze. One thing the AGV does have is an incredibly sturdy feeling visor, by comparison, the Shoei visor feels a little flimsy, though not more so than my previous HJC. It really has two visor positions, open and shut, whereas the AGV has a third position somewhere between the two that I often find useful in the rain (keeps some rain out of my eyes, but still allows me to see the road without having to look through a rain streaked visor). The Shoei does however have the ability to crack the visor a little for some additional airflow, which the AGV doesn't do. Overall, compared to most other helmets available, the Shoei feels much more like a good looking retro helmet with many of the comforts of a modern lid. I'm looking forward to putting down some more miles wearing it. I don't think I'll be retiring the AGV entirely, but I've definitely got a new favourite.

As per the reviews when it first came out this really is the quality retro styled helmet we have all been waiting for. Very light, great fit and quiet too.

The fit was perfect, the look is great, although I wish I had bought the smoked visor at the time of purchase. I am also impressed with the quality, the only thing I think shoei could do better is finding a way to reduce wind noise. It's a bit noisier than I was expecting.

Ordered this (in off-white) and the Bell Bullitt (in gold) as wasnt sure which Id like best. Heart said Bell, head said Shoei. Love the look of the Bell, but the Shoei Glamster was more comfortable, felt lighter and has better ventilation. Agree with others that its not the quietest helmet you can buy - most retro style helmets are pretty noisy when compared to more modern styled lids - but its quieter than the Bell and seemed a better fit for me. If Im honest, I still prefer the look of the Bullitt - the internal leather lining is lush and it just exudes quality, but the Glamster got the nod thanks to better features and fit. Understated quality.

Having worn the helmet a few times now since getting it I can say I am delighted. The lid looks great, size S fits my little 56cm noggin perfectly, the chin and skull vents work well to keep head cool and visor clear and the visor shape provides a good range of vision. The Gloss Off White colour goes really well with my Black Segura Stripe leather jacket. A great product which truly lives up to the hype.

Helmet looks gorgeous and truly retro. Fits comfy as all Shoei helmets do although it is slightly tighter than the Shoei Ryd. Overall, I’m quite pleased with it. No frills, just the basics but the basics done right.
