“Great hoodie, soft against the skin and the ghost armour blends in well you wouldn’t know it’s there as an onlooker. The person wearing it would not notice the shoulder armour at all, the elbow armour is noticeable as it sits away from the elbow when of the bike, it’s only when your in the ridding position it’s un noticeable however it doesn’t always sit in the right position, perhaps mark two version would have the ability to slightly move it. The hoodie is thicker than it looks and I recon on a hot day it will be perfect while tackling some twisty’s however when you get off for a coffee or a wander you may want to take it off. Overall it’s beautifully urban and retro the jet black (onyx) is beautiful and incredible value for money as you get a lot of bang for your buck and you feel it would do it’s primary job if ever it needed to. Great work from Merlin and Urban Rider I look forward to more collaborations.”

“Great hoodie that’s actually pretty comfortable to ride in. I bought the additional back protector padding that’s really easy to install. Hopefully it wears well Highly recommend this. Also shipping from Urban rider was really fast.”

“Im a 46 chest so went for xxl.fits fine comfortable and warm.enough for trips out when its dry. Good piece of kit no issues would buy again”

“I get fed up of layering up with loads of gear when I just want to pop out for a ride out to the shops or somewhere local on a dry or nice warm day. This hoodie is the perfect answer for me with thin and unobtrusive padding in all the right places but is still comfortable and great casual wear. Note that I would say that Merlin make this on the slightly generous side of sizing.”

“The onyx hoodie does what it is supposed to do very well, but with a few tweaks could be even better. The hoodie is a great option to wear for a short trip to the shops etc, and im sure will be even better in the summer months for longer rides. The hoodie is also comfortable enough, and the protection discrete enough, to just wear the hoodie round the house before getting on your bike. The hoodie could be improved though, i bought the hoodie with Merlin's belt and oddly the way the zip is on the hoodie you have to put the belt attachment on backward to line up for the zip. The design of the hoodie could also be improved with some simple additions, should look at how ski/snowboard hoodies have developed as to how they could improve it. The addition of DWR coating would make the hoodie more wearable if you got caught in a typical English shower, or the simple addition of zips on the kangaroo pocket would mean you would actually be able to use it while on the bike confidently. Overall i would highly recommend this hoodie but version 2.0 could be amazing.”
