Great boots. My second pair I also have these in black. Very sturdy and comfortable boots in a cool moc toe style. Really love this colour. Perfect on and off the bike. Excellent ankle protection. Very well made by John Doe and an excellent service from Urban Rider.

Built to last , constructed of very thick quality leather, very durable and feel protective, will get comment's on comparison to red Wings as they are that good ! Wear on or off the bike both look very stylish. Being thick sturdy leather they do take a lil breaking in I found the gusset near 2nd lace hole dug into my ankle first few wears but once broken in softens up absolutely well worth the money and will age and patina nicely, size is bang on also and fit true to size

Just like the title says, these boots look great - significantly better even than the photos. They get compliments wherever you go. They are also moderately comfortable! However they also have some serious cons. A little narrow for a boot, but I have slightly wider than normal feet so that may be expected - these are probably a standard D width. Sizing is standard boot sizing - if you wear a US 12 in most sneakers, you'll wear an 11 in these, which seems to be the same with most boots I've had over the years. The heel to toe drop is minimal (which I like), and the sole seems to be grippy enough. For walking around they aren't exactly "comfortable", but they certainly aren't much less comfortable than any other sub 200 dollar boots, aside from like Thorogoods or Thursdays (fashion/cheaper work boots). They feel like a 100 dollar Amazon boot as far as wearing them around, which is fine for a motorcycle boot. I basically just use them to ride to work, so they work perfectly for that. It seems to be basically impossible to get a good looking motorcycle boot with a CE rating, so that's absolutely a win in my book, and why I have no regrets buying them. If that's your only concern, buy these now and you won't be disappointed. However, the 3 star rating comes from the actual build quality. Within probably a week of wearing them to work, the inner Kevlar blend liner had completely detached from where it is apparently just glued down under the "insole", and is now just flopping around inside the boot. It gets all bunched up, and makes taking the boot off very annoying. Not to mention the biggest issue there, it doesn't inspire much confidence when it comes to actually protecting you in a crash, since the liner will just tear out of the way and your ankles and feet will be completely exposed. And if you think that 1.3mm thick leather is going to save you, think again. The leather is so thin that a minor scratch from walking can actually go right through (worn these for probably a total of maybe a mile of walking and already have a nice gash in the toe, with another almost all the way through on the other toe). No idea how, I've never had even a 20 dollar pair of sneakers cut this easily. The insole on the left shoe has also detached and folded over itself, either that or some midsole material has deteriorated already, because there is a massive crease down the front half of the left boot, and it's quite uncomfortable. Also, there is no "heel protection", unless the plastic midsole shank-like plate that theoretically keeps your foot from being crushed in the event of a lay-down counts. You can squish the heel even more easily than a cheap sneaker actually. The entire boot from what I can tell has a fake goodyear welt, so I'd guess based on the fact that the entire liner and insole lining have already started coming unglued within a month of extremely light wear (500 miles of commuting to work in an office), the shoe is likely a cheap cemented construction, much like you'd see on a sub 100 dollar normal boot. So, in summary, the boot looks great, and technically has a CE rating, but it's falling apart more and more by the day, and I can't imagine it would actually protect you in a crash since the entire lining (which is what you are paying for) disconnects simply from light riding within a week or two. If it was actually stitched together, that would never happen, and I'd probably give this thing a 6/5 star review for the price. Unfortunately these appear to just be cheap fashion boots with juuust enough "protection" to get the entry level CE rating when brand new, but I highly doubt that rating would hold up after a month of wear. They have a warranty, but if you live outside Germany you'd have to pay to ship them over there and back just to have them likely reglue the liner, and that would cost half the price of the boots just to have the liner re-tear out. Also, check out their (John Doe's) Monolayer pants if you like the brand, they are wildly comfortable and look great.

Comfortable straight out of the box and after a week they are like a 2nd skin. Beautifully comfortable. Excellent quality leather. incredibly good value when considering my Red Wings were over twice the price.

Lovely boot. Comfortable from the off - and don’t even remotely look like a motorcycle boot so can wear anywhere. Quality looks And feels great with soft leather. Big fit so ordered a 10.5 as normally an 11.
