“Ordered two of these, 4.5in x 4.5in and 5ft long. Ordered in medium oak and the colour is lovely. They are, however, shaped in completely different ways so there’s no uniformity at all which is a shame as I wanted them to match which is what I thought I’d be getting since they are “shaped”. They also both have huge splits down them and although the beams are naturally rustic in style, neither look great. I wouldn’t recommend them.”

Hello Thomas, Thank you leaving us a review, It's disappointing to hear that your are not satisfied with the product. Our shaped oak beams are shaped on the underside to give a natural looking appearance, the way this is done makes it impossible for every beam to look the same, we go off the natural features of each piece of oak to give it this shape, and it wouldn't look natural if both were exactly the same. Oak is a natural product so each piece doesn't look the same even before we do any work to it. It is typical for air dried oak beams to have cracks in them and we wouldn't send a beam out if we thought the cracks were excessive so we would be happy to look into this further if you send us some photos to info@traditionalbeams.com We try to be as transparent as possible on our website so customers know that oak is a natural product and can vary in distinguishing features such as cracks. Hello Phil, I am sorry you are not satisfied with the product you purchased. We have had a look at the photos of your beam through email and the cracks in your beam are completely normal and what is typical for an air dried oak beam. For a beam with no cracks at all we do have a kiln dried oak beam available on our website. As we discussed in the email if you are really not happy with the beam you may return if for a refund but as the product looks as described on our website then the return would need to be organised by yourself.
