“The beam arrived well packaged from protection and stained as required with Danish Oil. The beam looks amazing now fitted and complements the fire place well. My only ciriticsm and why I have not give a 5 is the fixings. Three studs were provided and the beam pre-drilled to accept them. Once the studs were fitted to the wall and the beam pushed into place the beam did not sit sqaure to the wall when viewed from the top with a very slight 'hang' (no doubt due to the weight) and a small gap was obvious where it met the wall, however there was a nice tight fit beneath. It required the application of a No Nails product (supported whilst it cured) to hold it in place in an attempt to get it flush against the wall. However it still does not fit tight against the wall, which is a shame. However is still looks good but maybe the method of fitting needs reconsideration.”

Hi James! Thank you for your review! We're glad to hear that the beam arrived well-packaged and looks amazing in your space. This may be because your wall is not straight, if any gaps occur we recommend using some decorators chaulk :)

“As ordered solid oak fireplace mantel. Very pleased with it. Due to weight would have liked one more fixing which are a great due to the slight adjustment you can use. Would use again.”

As a guide 2 fixings have the potential to hold up to 35kg of weight between them including the weight of the beam, the 4.5ft beams are supplied with 3 fixings and are designed to hold the weight. We are glad you found the cam mechanism on the fixings handy! We are glad you would shop with us again :)
