“We are pleased with our aged Oak mantle and it looks good in place. However, the finish wasn’t quite up to the standard we would expect at this price point and some of the wood was ‘furred’ and rough - not sanded smooth and this results in an odd texture a third of the way along the beam. If not for this we would be gushing as it is fantastic otherwise.”

Hi Paul, thanks for your feedback. Sorry to hear you felt the finish was not quite what you expected. You have ordered the "Aged" beam which is finished off with a wire brush to raise the grain, this can result in a varied degree of texture. If you wanted a beam that was sanded to a smooth finish you would have been better suited to the "Classic" or "Shaped" stye. The information on how we finish our beams is in the listing descriptions, we are sorry if you missed this. Overall we are glad you are pleased with your beam.
