“Aubergine is a risky colour to buy in footwear; if the shade is too bold, your best-planned ensemble becomes a costume. Fortunately, Thomas Bird have judged this perfectly: a very deep and burnished shade which, in artificial light, could pass for black, while in sunlight - or matched to clothing that brings the colour forward - it declares itself a dark and lustrous purple, playfully enhanced by medallion broguing. Photos illustrate. Buy with absolute confidence. You're getting a "super black" option, much more versatile than you'd guess. Fabulous.”

Dear Matthew, Thank you for your positive review of our Stirling Chelsea Boot in Aubergine. As you say the colour is subtle yet strong enough in natural light to distinguish that it is a dark purple.
