So far so good! Firstly great customer service from Epicentre. I called and spoke to one guy about the jacket who gave excellent advice and had good product knowledge. I bought both Small and Medium as I wasn't certain which would fit best. It was so easy to send the one I didn't keep back. As far as the jacket is, very nice, super fit and keeps the wind out so far. I haven't yet worn it up mountains/hills and walking far but look forward to doing that soon!

Overall, I have not been impressed with this jacket. Ive owned various Mountain Equipment jackets for well over 20 years now, including Alpine fit jackets, and have always found them excellent and an awesome fit. However, I was really disappointed with the fit of the Makalu. I'm not sure its actually designed for humans at all TBF. The body is incredibly slim, with little room for any layering, and is also quite long. The arms are about 9ft long and quite baggy, with the arm holes coming out somewhere around your neck. The cut under the arms is way too tight, which makes the pit zips kink, creating pockets for water to sit and potentially enter the jacket. I'm surprised that a jacket created in classic Goretex has such an uncomfortable and overly technical fit, and I think ME have lost the plot. Quality seems good and the hood is as good as ever though.
