“My first year back into biking after an enforced break due to my partner getting pregnant. Due to this I had lost all of my no claims so I knew I was going to have to take a hit. Many of the companies took great advantage of this and wanted to charge me ridiculous amounts even though I have held my licence for 25 years. MCE were very fair and absolutely blew all the other quotes out of the water. Don't waste your time, call MCE first as nobody will beat them.”
“I had my motorcycle stolen about a month ago partly I was to blame due to my own gullibility. However it did give me plenty of time to make use of and sample the customer service of MCE. I rang MCE to make a claim and was greeted by a friendly answer machine, giving me multiple choices and a friendly message that if I was wringing on a 08 number to hang up and try the land line. Great I thought at least they don't want to diddle me on my phone bill, things are looking up. After hanging up and ringing several times I finally got through to a polite and friendly desk jockey who asked for all my details. I then politely explained my situation and they very kindly and helpfully tried to find anything and everything that I had done wrong so MCN didn't have to pay me for my loss. My bike was relatively cheap only 650 and with fully comprehensive insurance I realised that with the 500 pound excess I was probably wasting my time for 150 pounds of payout. The only real criticism I would make was the way they grilled me like I was the crime suspect myself. At the end of my friendly conversation I felt like I was on trial trying to justify why they should pay out ( in the nicest possible way of course ). They informed me that I was to blame and I would not be able to make a claim because my bike was supposedly fitted with a steering lock and I had not used it (I was never asked if my bike had one over the phone when I first got the insurance). I thought fair enough they know my bike better than I do. So the fact that this would have made no difference as my safety nuts for my rear wheel drive had sheared, making it a push bike with no pedals, if they did something as complicated as lift the front wheel, was a definite sign that MCN knew exactly what they were doing. Nice to know I thought with MCN's generous and helpful advice I finally realised my future insurance would be seriously higher if I made a claim, and so I opted to take it on the chin like a man it was inevitable really and I was very impressed at MCN's professionalism in this case.
Thanks MCN
