“Was unable to complete the weekend classroom course as I went down with a cold on the Saturday morning, and although tested negative for COVID I did not continue, for obvious health reasons; the others and myself. I was advised by the tutor to contact TEFL.org and re-schedule, and maybe just pay an additional admin fee. I phoned, was instructed to write an email (which I did) and so far have heard nothing back. I find this rather disappointing, and feel that TEFL.org are not that bothered about dealing with my situation. This is a shame, as the content of the classroom course I covered was very good. Like many other instances, it seems that once they have your money, if anything happens (unexpected and not in your control), then the company involved just turns a blind eye to things, and you're left out of pocket.”

“I'm quite early in the course, having completed the Grammar course and about to submit my first assignment on the Methodology course. I am finding it enjoyable, and in general easy to follow, although sometimes the explanation of grammar points, especially could be expanded. the class demonstrations are really useful to understand how to deliver the classes. It would be helpful if at the beginning there was an indication of the proportion of time likely to complete each course, as this would help to self-set deadlines. Looking forward to continuing, and especially the face-to-face weekend.”

I will certainly pass on your feedback regarding the grammar explanations, as we will always endeavour to improve our courses further. The timescale for each course should be available on the website, for example the Methodology makes up 50-hours of the course. You will also be able to view how far you are through each course in percentages, to show how quickly you are progressing through the course. “Hello. I have finished the online part of the 120-hr TEFL course. It was great to brush up on my grammar! As I am a native English speaker, I felt very lucky; explaining all the different uses and spellings of the tenses feels it would be challenging, even though I know that the equivalents of all of these rules exist in other languages and people can understand it all more easily than one might think. I think I will aim to teach young people, and to give them lots and lots of material (poems, stories, songs) to simply listen to and repeat/learn, so that they can just get the language ‘into their ears and mouths’ . . before trying to explain soooo much theory and rules. In two weeks I will attend the two days in-person learning. I really look forward to that, as I think it will help me to better visualise how I can use this course. I especially appreciated the videos of actual classroom lessons in my online course. I have also been listening to webinars on the TEFL Facebook page.”
