This contraption had a lot to live up to following the fact that I bought a DKN exercise bike last year which has been superb. Granted, I’m only 5 days in with the H2Oar but it hasn’t disappointed in any way. Looks brilliant, smooth as silk and the only sound you can really hear is the sloshing of the water. As for assembly, I was pleasantly surprised- I’m not gifted in the common sense dept but even I managed to assemble it in about 3 hours at a leisurely pace. The trick is take your time as do exactly what you see on diagrams- with a little thought it eventually becomes quite simple. I haven’t had time yet to sample all the programme variations but I’m already well aware that even without using the Kinomap app there is gonna be ample enough to keep me wanting to keep getting back on it. I was gonna go for a concept 4 but already I’m so glad I stayed with DKN. Brilliant piece of kit.

I was a little hesitant ordering this - I couldn’t find any youtube videos, there were a few text reviews claiming it was good quality and a magazine review giving it praise but that was it. I was only considering this or a concept2 like my gym has. I took the plunge and have to say after a week i’m happy. It is good quality, i’m a very big guy and it glides super smoothly with no flex in the rails. The concept2 rowers are also strong like this but this feels more premium, the concept2’s are much more basic feeling. I much prefer the strap on this for the handle vs the clattering chain on the concept2. I like the noise of the water sloshing around. I love the seat, the seat is awesome. The foot adjusters are basically the same as a concept2 but this has a better velcro with handles. Bad points: the silver colour on the top of the rails is paint. That’s going to wear off in time with the rollers running back and forth all the time. On a concept2 that part is plain metal which means they never look bad over time. The built in computer is fairly basic. It has all the modes you’d expect but no smartphone connectivity for downloading progress over time. The screen is bigger but i prefer the computer on a concept2 which is also poor but is better than this at least. EDIT: the rails are actually capped with plain metal, they are not painted silver as i said. What i thought was flaking paint on the runners was actually MDF dust. Wiping this off revealed perfect rails again.

Great water rowing machine, solid quality and easy to use. Not quiet but quieter than an air rower and a much nicer noise! Great price from sweatband as well. Display a little basic but Kinomap app with Bluetooth link very effective.

I took delivery of the H2Oar today and it replaced my DripeX magnetic rowing machine. What a fantastic difference. It was easy to set up and great to use. That coupled with all promises met by Sweatband and a professional service from the delivery company ArrowXL. All round one of the best shopping experiences I’ve had in a long time. Great product, great service. Thank you.

Firstly, this is a lovely machine. The seat moves very smoothly, it looks good and does it's job. There are a couple of minor niggles. The foot position is a couple of inches too high and it is much more comfortable when it is lowered. Secondly, the foot straps are much easier to use if they open on the outside of the foot rather than the inside as currently. This would make it easier to operate. I think the instrusctions for assembly and using the monitor could be improved. I hope that this is helpful.

I used to be a keen runner but pounding pavements became too much for my ankles in particular so I decided to switch to something low impact and went for a rowing machine instead. I’m glad I did and that I chose this one. It’s a great bit of kit that’s well made and really comfortable to use. In just a few weeks I’ve noticed a big difference to how my joints feel and I’m still getting a great workout. I’m really happy with this machine.

Pros: Easy and quick to assemble. Looks great. Performs well. Feels very solid. Worth the money. Cons: Need to buy water tablets to maintain it and keep the water clean so takes a bit more maintenance to look after it. Summary: This blitzes some rowers I've used for comfort and compares well with some of the more expensive models you can buy. The water element is great and despite the little bit of extra care needed to maintain it, it's light-years better than most magnetic resistance rowing machines I've used.
