About Sonarworks:

A perfect storm of acoustic know-how and passion for good sound became the software that's currently transforming sound monitoring.

The UI is well designed. The device remapping support on Windows works very well, as far as I have seen. The only two times I thought it messed up for me ended up being a mistake on my end, and had nothing to do with this software. The built-in average presets make 3 pairs of headphones sound near identical (hd6xx, k712pro, momentum 3 over ear), at least for their eq curve. The soundstage still sounds different. The k712 sounds wider, the 6xx sound tighter, and the momentum 3 is still a closed can sound. Of course. The drivers are physically different and an EQ won't fix that. The software does exactly what it promises to do, which is bring it to a standardized flat EQ. Which is great. I'm just using it for listening. The "translation" targets seem like they could be useful for a music producer (which I haven't done professionally, and not for years). But I wouldn't be surprised if a DAW or plugin in combo with this software could do the same thing just as well. I haven't tried the speaker side of the software, nor have I paid for it. I don't need that use case, and it is much more expensive, so I don't plan to either.

Does a good job on all my headphones.

It has a ton of great headphone profile choices. I own a pair of DT 990 Pros that are 80 Ohms which - while aren't specifically listed as an option to pick from - still end up working well with both the 250 and 32 ohms profiles. It really is a game changer

The download and setup instructions were clear. The software itself is nice. I haven't developed my hearing yet so I have no way of knowing whether whatever it applies to the headphone sound is truly flat. However, as a beginner who mixes on headphones, this is still better because I had a chance to listen to something I created both before and after using the plugin in a professional studio. I am impressed with how much better the low-end sounded on the thing I created after applying the plugin effect. On the track that I created before buying the plugin, the bass & kick were almost non-existent because the headphones had some low-end boost which distorted my perception. Good job.

It really saved me a lot of time and frustration on reference checks of my mixes. Instead of being disappointed in certain listening spaces, I could make the correct adjustments for different listening spaces so I could have a better chance of having a decent mix in that space.

I was able to mix using headphones for the first time with very minimal tweaking. Excellent product. Looking forward to upgrading to the full version with microphone.
