“A very effective sound sensor with three valuable outputs; amplified audio signal, peak detector and envelope output. Works really well with an Arduino.”
“This needs a power regulator on board, especially if fed off the R-Pi GPIO. 5V to 3V3 worked for me, but so much neater if on-board. An extended version allowing an active filter around the input amplifier would be cool, for detection of a specific frequency. The reference input to the input amplifier should be decoupled with a large C. A MCP3008 on board?”
“Well constructed and design sound module. I used it in a tree health detection system mock up before finalizing the design and worked as expected. Recommend for good results you use, as suggested, a very low ripple power supply, then the data out is stable and repeatable. I cannot comment on the purity of sound as my project wasn't looking at that aspect. All in all a very useful module to perfect your prototype, with the Sparkfun Arduino sketch useful in testing it's parameters.”
