“I must confess, I’m very impressed with the Pi 500+ Desktop Kit; everything you need except a monitor (power supply, mouse, RGB keyboard, HDMI cable and a getting started book).
The unit comes with Bookworm preinstalled, reboot and hold down the shift key to enter the network raspi installer (with Ethernet cable connected), to install the latest version Trixie). Within a few minutes you’ll be up and running with the latest operating system!!
It’s a remarkably responsive system, with 16GB RAM in hand. The tethered mouse is not bad (L+R+thumbwheel button), but the keyboard is phenomenal, I wasn’t particularly interested in a LED backlit KB but I love it, particularly in low light conditions.
I’ve lost count of all the various incarnations of the Raspberry Pi’s I have from the original Pi to the Pi 5 with dual SSD’s, but the Pi 500+ is my new favourite without a doubt!!
