“What a great improvement over the disappointing 500!
I've been using a Pi5 with Pimoroni SSD board as my main home office PC for over a year now as the 500 was so disappointing due to the slow SD card I/O and lack of NVME SSD support.
Then along comes the Pi 500+, a breath of fresh air, 16GB RAM, M.2 NVME Support with 250GB SSD and a really nice keyboard thrown in, it's everything the original 500 should had been but, wasn't.
Moved my SSD over fom my Pi5 and now has the wonderful KDE-Plasme desktop running snappier than ever on my new Pi 500+ ... there's definitely a difference in app startup times on the 500+ over the Pi5, possibly due to the SSD being directly on the motherboard rather than hung on the end of a ribbon cable.
The keyboard takes a bit of getting used to after using an official RaspberryPi keyboard with my Pi5 for so long but, it's got a great feel to it and is backlit too, a first for RaspberryPi.
Overall, the 500+ is a great desktop PC, does everything I need and more. It even runs my HAM Radio SDR Transceiver using PiHPSDR with ease.
