“My rating is about the manufacture of the new pi 5 and not a reflection on the service from pimoroni, which was 5 star service.
The new pi has a different layout to the pi 4 so you can't use any spare cases you also need to have new power supply. Not tried my PoE hat or connected to a PoE router yet, so that may be a workaround. Software support needs to catch-up as builds for previous pi prob won't work and I've only seen latest rasbien and Ubuntu work on the pi5. Couldn't run twisterOS. Not sure the improvements are worth the increased price. Considering you can get mini PC that are a little bit more or equal (when you factor in needed accessories) in price that are on par or better performance. It removes the pi5 as a worthwhile cheap desktop computer. So that leaves project usage. I think the only type of projects that could justify the cost are things like setting up AndroidTV server if you do not want to replace an aging TV.
So in short the pi5 makes SBC's a pricey hobby”
