“This device works very well over the specified range and is very tolerant of the quality of the reflecting surface. The voltage output is non-linear with distance so if you need to know the actual distance you need to do some mathematics. Distance in cm = (6873 / VIn) - 5 works well on my Arduino. The only disadvantage is that the output voltage increases with decreasing distance until about 6 cm and then it starts to reduce again, giving a misleading indication of longer range.”
