“This worked more or less straight out of the box. With a Picaxe at 5V controlling it, I needed a voltage divider on the input to drop the 5V to 3.3V (not a problem if you are using the Picaxe at 3.3V anyway). The absence of a NETLIGHT LED on the board is an irritation - being able to see immediately if there is a connection is useful - but easily overcome by adding a suitable LED and resistor (I used a 3mm yellow with 1K) which will flash fast (4G) or slow (2G) or "on" (not connected).
SMS send and receive, ring "voice" numbers and "answer" incoming "voice" calls all work. Without any audio, voice calls are limited effectively to ringing the number, or picking up the number of the incoming caller. The lack of a "Ring Indicator" which exists on some other SIMCom modules is a slight irritation.
Direct access to the user manuals, without having to belong to a company with a website in order to register with SIMCom, would be useful.”
“The Pimoroni Clipper (A7683E) is a neat LTE board. (The micro-SIM card needs to be inserted with the missing corner first.)
For an example showing its use with Adruino see: https://forums.pimoroni.com/t/clipper-lte-with-arduino/27903”
Ahoy, and thanks for the review! I'm afraid our reviews software seems to have mangled the formatting of your code example somewhat - you could post a link on our forums instead? https://forums.pimoroni.com/
