“The NVMe Base arrived last week. It was easy to assemble and install the operating system. My only complaint is the imager won't run from a virtual terminal (headless). I had to get VNC running from the sd to run rpi-imager from the gui. Apart from that it was all painless and seems to be solid. Waiting for a case to put it in.”
“Followed the setup guide on youtube and the same is on the Pimoroni site, simple setup, nice that you get extra screws. Works really well and only file edit was to enable support for PCIe 3 other than that worked out the box. Excellent”
“Lovely bit of kit. It’s worth working out which screws you’re going to use before you start.
It’s not really going to work with any existing case either. If you do manage for example the top few layers it’ll hamper even more access to the sd card slot.
But once assembled it works and works beautifully. I’ve been using my Pi5 with the NVMe base as my daily PC for a few weeks now.”
“There is absolutely no queation of should you put nvme on your pi5, the performance increase says it all.
Can't even imagine going back to sd card. And its not even that expensive for a 500gb drive. So much storage as well. Very happy with purchase.”
“I am no hardware guy. Not even close. I wanted the NVMe BASE HAT, but I also feared it a bit.
But the package was complete, clear and easy to use. The instructions on youtube were perfect. Within 30 minutes I not only had my NVMe SSD connected, I also had my Pi 5 boot from it, at high speed, without the least problem.
In other words, I love it.”
