“A very well thought out MCU based handheld 'gaming' device. Besides the fast MCU and good controls, the single best feature is that the LCD is connected to the CPU in a way which doesn't require CPU intervention. It provides a 24-bit 50Hz 320x240 display that's easy to use from the software side. The other part I appreciate is that the development environment is based on SDL2, so code can be tested on your PC before running the same exact code on the device. I've already ported my Animated GIF library to it; hopefully this will end up in the examples folder shortly.”
“I was very much looking forward to this kit arriving, after following the informative and interesting updates on the project page. It arrived, very well presented in a stylish black box complete with a usb cable and a bonus pack of stickers. The physical quality of the 32blit itself is superb - a bare bones circuit board that has the same 'tinker with me!' feel of the Raspberry Pi but comfortable to use with positive controls, an excellent quality screen and surprisingly loud sound. Getting it up and running took around 15 minutes when paired with a Pi and the code examples are a good place to start. Looking forward to spending time getting stuck into programming with this!”
“My 13 year old insisted on getting the beta version and loves it. The product is great, He had been getting programming support through discord which has been fantastic. Can't wait for the tutorials now, but so far this has been a great buy.”
“I was very concerned that I was diving into a beta program. I imagined spending hours installing the dev environment and just trying to get the “hello world” example to compile and upload. As it turns out... 1 1/2 hours after opening the box, I had run through every single example provided in the Github repository. Everything just worked! Now, it is off to learning the SDL2 API and start writing some code! It is beta, and I am sure there will be things to figure out, but that is okay. I look forward to the process.”
“Ordered the beta kit to test out some coding. Really impressed with the design of the beta and the demos pre-loaded onto the device. nice back and love the modular stacked design, makes it easy to modify.”
