This fan shim provides an ideal way to deal with this excess heat generation by providing temperature controlled airflow over the CPU, whilst not blocking the I/O connector. I have mine installed on an extra-high header, pinned down between the spacers on the pins, and then I can still add further HATs, with the CPU running at around 50C, rather than 79C”
