“What can't you do with these Automation PHATs?
I use mine in a cat kennel were I monitor occupancy, when in use it then monitors temperature and if cool it switches on a USB terrarium heat pad.
One happy cat!”
“Great product. It allows me to easily interface into my home automation system to control and monitor things like garage doors and the like.
HOWEVER!, the one BIG issue is that I cannot use both the Automation pHar and the Speaker pHAT without modifying the Automation pHAT so the same device can issue messages during operation. You need to modify the board to allow those pins to be easily assigned to another pair of the GPIO pins. Please add jumper pads on the board to make that easier.”
We'd recommend that you "jumper" the connections off the HAT using something like our Pico HAT Hack3r to breakout the pins for soldering. We don't add jumpers to the HATs/pHATs themselves as classic jumpers would take up a lot of space and only add utility to a very small number of users.
“I used the automation phat on my first ever raspberry pi project to control a 50v intercom system in my apartment and it worked great! I used the ADC with a resister to detect the doorbell ringing and the relay to unlock the door. The python library was super easy to integrate with as well. Thank you so much for making these and at such a fair price!”
