“The detail and build quality are, as always, first class, and the printing, while small, is very readable.
But, for me, the design is wrong. Maybe it's my expectations that are wrong, after all it was designed to accommodate 2 HATs simultaneously, but the fact that it connects so that the cable comes over the top of the Pi, and the HDMI, audio, and power ports doesn't make sense. It feels 'backwards'. Surely, if you have your Pi connected to a monitor, then the HDMI port is facing away from you, meaning the board would be at the back of the Pi.
Also, I would have thought that most people are used to having the GPIO pins nearest to then, with pin 1 at top right. This board breaks out the pins very nicely, but with pin 1 at bottom left. I was hoping to be able to use it as an extension board for a school setup, where the Pi is semi-fixed below the monitor, and the hack3r board brings the GPIO out for easy access. Now, I can do this, but I would need to re-label the pins (using a Leaf or RasPIO portsplus), and I wouldn't be able to connect a pHAT to the other header as it would be reversed.
Like I said, it's probably more down to it not meeting my exact requirements, than it being a bad product, because it definitely isn't! It's very well made, and at a great price, but for me, it's just wrong! Sorry.”
