“I hate to do this as I really need this device to work as it is the key to getting the project I
am work on to work.
The main problem is that the M5Stack Core ESP32 does not sucessfully boot and I can't
find documentation to help. In fact, most of the documentation is terrible.
I can turn the machine on and it boots with lotsof messages but then hangs.
The messages -
"TF card test:"
(no card was supplied with the kit. I tried a card I had - slightly different messages.)
"Listing directory: /"
"Failed to open directory"
"Writing file: /hello.txt"
"Failed to open file for writing"
"Reading file: /hello.txt"
"Failed to open file for reading"
This makes sense as there is not disk.

I pressed first button
"A"
Pressed next two buttons
"BC"
Now what do I do ? I am stuck at this point and can't fide a solution on the web !
Tried to talk to the device on a USB cable to my Windows 10 system. I seem to
need a driver whick I can't download as the documentation does not work.
Other people must have had this problem but I can't find solutions.
Looks like I will have to abandon using the M5Stack and try to get a refund on
all the kit I have bought.
I will switch to using a Raspberry Pi. I have several of these. The documentation is
very good and I have written a lot of software for them and published this on the
web.
It will take me quite a time to transfer the software but at least the pi works.”
