This DevBoard is the best one I’ve tried that’s based on the ESP32-C3 MCU, and I’ve tried dozens of them from various manufacturers including SeedStudio XIAO, LOLIN, WeAct Studio and official Espressif ones. I’ve come across this product because I’ve made a lot of battery-powered projects and I was struggling to find an ESP32-C3 DevBoard that consumes less than 50uA in deep sleep and this board exceeded my expectations. The ESP itself consumes less than 10uA on deep sleep, however, the thing that impacts the most on consumption is the voltage regulator. In fact, the majority of boards use somewhat cheap voltage regulators that impact the power consumption more than the MCU itself (the majority consumes across 50uA, excluding cheap board or WROOM modules that consume mAs). The regulator on this product consumes as low as 2-3uA. This means that I was able to develop a T/H sensor (SHT41-based) that transmits data through ESPNow that consumes around 13uA in deep sleep and stays active for a couple of hundred ms to read and send the data (coded in MicroPython), in practice a small 600mA battery should last a year or more. Other than that this product can charge a 3.7V cell over USB (with all protections) and even has a built-in touch button that doesn’t waste energy. Great inclusion also the expansion board, a nice touch. Never seen a feature-packed DevBoard like this on this price tag.
