“Cheap and quick way to improve the thermal performance of your pi. Advantage of this heatsink is that it fits inside your existing case, and will work with Pi3 as well as Pi4. It doesn't provide anything like the cooling performance of full heatsink cases but will make a big difference for a lightly loaded pi in a typical plastic case. It will also greatly enhance the effectiveness of a small case-mounted fan. The self-adhesive thermal pad holds the heatsink fairly firmly, but it can be pushed or slipped out of place, so I wouldn't use this heatsink where the pi will be subject to mechanical vibration or be mounted vertically in a mobile context. A desk-top pi in a a plastic case (maybe with a case-top fan) is an ideal setting for this low cost heatsink.”
“It's a heatsink. It does its job. I ran a stress-test on a Pi 4B and it took more than 9 minutes of full load before it got to 80 celsius (which is when it starts thermal throttling). So for general usage, it's perfect.”
