“An excellent addition to the Argon ONE case. I bought this to expand my Argon ONE Raspberry Pi 4 case. I purchased a 128gb M2 SSD (elsewhere) and apart from moving the fiddly screw, it all went together quite easily.
Instructions on how to setup your Pi to boot from the SSD are available on the Internet, but took a little finding as the process has changed somewhat with improvements to the Raspberry Pi OS. - A link or document download on the website would be useful.
The boot and disk access speed improvements are tremendous.
The slight downside would be the lack of access to the SD card slot with this setup. You have to remove the bottom of the case to insert the card which I had to do after mucking up the fstab configuration. NOTE TO SELF: keep the old SD card as a recovery disk if you manage to do the same thing.
Now all we need is a USB 3.0 hub in a matching finish to complete the set :-)
Highly recommended for a solid desktop Raspberry Pi setup.”
“Already having an Argon ONE case, this was a no-brainer addition. Instead of needing to buy a whole new case, I just bought this, added an M.2 SATA SSD (I had one lying around), and just swap it with the existing bottom half of the case.
With this I now boot off of the SSD instead of an SD card, and storage in general is faster than previously. It's definitely a nice bit of kit.
Ordering was painless, and the item arrived within a couple days. Excellent service.”
“Great update for the Argon one, excellent support by Pimoroni, the expansion board was not in stock when I looked for it, Pimoroni sent me an email once back in stock, and then had quick processing and delivery time.
Thank you”
“Excellent upgrade to the Argon ONE.
You do loose access to easily swap the SD card though, so I’m leaving a 256GB card inside to use as persistent storage as I boot from either the M.2 or plugging in an alternative OS on a USB stick.
I’ll probably soon order the complete Argon ONE M.2 for my 2nd Pi4.”
