“A nifty little board to experiment with CircuitPython with loads of on-board sensors and displays.
Fast delivery from Pimoroni as always.
NOTE
The board's bootloader must be 0.6.1 or later to be able to load CircuitPython 8.2.0 or later. It came loaded with a really old version from 2019.
Update instructions here:-
https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-circuit-playground-bluefruit/update-bootloader
It was so old I could only get this to work using the Command Line method.
Updating on windows in the directory with the required files, execute:
adafruit-nrfutil.exe --verbose dfu serial --package feather_nrf52840_express_bootloader-0.8.0_s140_6.1.1.zip --port COMxx -b 115200 --singlebank --touch 1200
Change highlighted to circuitplayground_nrf52840_bootloader-0.8.2_s140_6.1.1.zip
from the git repository
(make sure you change the COM port, too!)”
“Brilliant little board. Just a note for anyone considering using this with Microsoft MakeCode as a teaching tool: the Bluefruit model isn't actually fully supported. If you want to use Circuit Playground with MakeCode, you need to find a Circuit Playground Express.”
“Gorgeous object. The neopixels are particularly fun to play with. Somewhat more powerful than a RaspPi Pico which is exactly what I wanted. Would recommend”
