La Sportiva’s Mutant is a stable trail and fell running shoe suitable for many different types of off road terrain from muddy hills and mountains to fields and parks. The sole is ultra-sticky rubber with deep, well-spaced lugs to optimize grip on slippery ground, including mud and scree.

“My 2nd pair of these shoes and they are as good as ever. Good to wear long distances straight out of the box. Cushioning fine for road sections, grip off-piste is great. I like the wrap-around tongue design, makes for a snug fit at the ankle, and there is as ever lots of room in the toe-box. Good-looking colours and fair price too. A really good trail shoe.”

“Wanted a mountain specific shoe. This is so much more. The fit is perfect (when you 1/2 size up) with the burrito tongue and lace system. Ran 30 miles straight out the box with no issues and never had to re-adjust. You know its a good shoe when you're not thinking about them. Grip is exceptional and cushion just right. Space in the toebox good, can lace up hard for snug fit. Hard packed trail, mud and soft ground, steep ascent and descent. These had no issues. Will definitely buy again.”

“Ideal off road trail running shoe. Superb on downland and forest trails in very wintery conditions . Best/ most durable sole I have come across. Topped with novel and very effective lacing system. My best trail shoe to date.”
