This is more generous than is usual these days (try getting a free paint sample!) and allows the user to get a feel for the product and attempt some test machining. The follow-up from Alex was gentle and helpful.
In the case of untreated cedar, I also wanted to test to see how resilient it is to water.
So far I've passed it through my planer/thicknesser and it looks very easy to machine and leaves a good finish.”
