“Purchased the product based on being highlighted as being compatible with Nordrive roof bars. The clamp is of a plastic material with thick rubber lining on the inside which grips the bars. Despite tightening them as much as possible they still move somewhat on the bars and it gives the impression that the weight of the kayak at c 23kg (c 50lbs) is too much weight, although well within the product max recommended weight of 80lbs. I can manoeuver the kayak to be loaded from the rear and the carrier wheels are effective. However bacause the clamp moves under the weight I have to drag the boat off from behind, as in effect the wheels position is changed.”
“Quick to fit, and can easily load my sea kayak on my own in a matter of minutes. Kayak is held securely and no movement at all once strapped down. The large saddle area doesn't deform the boat if loaded on and left overnight, etc.
My only criticism is that this is a Yakima attachment used on a Yakima rail, so it could/should have been designed to be less 'clunky'. The clamp extends a long way below the bar, so any deformation when loading the kayak (for a brief time the boat is only supported on the back bar with rollers) and the bar only has to flex a tiny amount before the saddle clamp touches the car roof. To account for this I've had to mount the crossrail further forward than I wanted to for optimal loading.”
