“These worked well: good traction, no slipping when we were told by the Gendarmes that we had to use chains rather than AutoSocks in a snowstorm in January ‘26.
There were a tight fit on our Q4’s 255/50R19 wheels and it took two of us to push them on: one working round the rim pushing on and the other applying a downward force on the “hub” of the device. Also, don’t forget to tighten the tensioning wheel and check the fit after driving a 100m or so: we hadn’t tightened enough and the chains would have come off if we hadn’t checked.
I can’t work out how to fold them small enough to go back into the carrier!”
