“This was my first attempt at roofbox installation. I found the cartoonish bar assembly instructions poor, with little guidance how to perform the specified operations. The list of tools required did not mention a torque wrench, or a cramp to close the slot in the bracket connecting the feet to the bar. Without such a tool the bolts cannot be inserted. The Chinese have quickly learned to include spare fasteners, but the Spanish seemingly haven't. Lose one of these bolts and you are done for.
The combination of Cruz airo bars and a Firrak arca 310 box required the bars to be spaced on the roof to an accuracy of 1mm, otherwise the box U bolts won't fit. The only way I could do this was first to clamp the bars to the box base, fit this sub-assembly to the roof and then fit the lid. However the end result is very solid and without any play.
I have yet to use the box on a long trip, but am fairly confident that it will be satisfactory. The box's light weight is a plus, since the Jazz's limit being only 50kg gross. The airo bars are well worth the extra money - they are quiet and can be left on the roof.”
“Roof bars I purchased looked nice but a pain in the nect to fit unfortunately.
So bad I gave up, threw them out for the scrap man and reverted back to Thule. More expensive, but way better.”
